Baskets made from recycled materials

Painted Baskets

A Short History of Baskets

Weaving baskets from grasses and leaves is an ancient craft, older than painting or pottery. In Sweden, for hundreds of years, baskets were made from woodstrips or bark that were woven and painted in a rustic and colourful way.

Today I make objects in the same way but from recycled materials such as cardboard, metal or plastic. Layers of paint, glue and varnish make for sturdy and beautiful storage containers. These baskets vary in style and size, and can be used as paper bins, washing baskets, cd-holders or shopping bags.
